More serious offenses involving jail exposure greater than six months are initially processed in the local municipal court before being turned over to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and sent to the Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick, NJ.

The Middlesex County Superior Court handles all indictable/felony charges. The court has a Drug Court Program, which may allow you to stay out of jail and serve time in a rehabilitation facility as opposed to in prison. From the N.J. Turnpike

Use Exit 9 and bear right onto Route 18 North, following signs for New Brunswick. Remain on Route 18 and take the New Street ramp. Once on New Street, pass through three lights and make first right onto Kirkpatrick Street. Proceed one block and make another right onto Paterson Street. The Courthouse is located one block down at the intersection of Paterson Street and Elm Row.

From Route 1

From North or South, take the “Route 18 – New Brunswick” exit, then follow as above.

From Route 27 – Highland Park/Edison Area

Cross the Raritan River on Route 27 and turn left at second traffic light. Go to first light and make right onto New Street. Follow directions as above.

From Route 27 – South Brunswick Area

Take Route 27 into the center of New Brunswick and turn right onto George Street. At third traffic light, turn right onto Bayard Street. Make left onto Kirkpatrick Street at first 4-way intersection. Make first right onto Paterson Street. The Courthouse is located one block down at the intersection of Paterson Street and Elm Row.
