A tip from Paterson regarding drug activity led undercover Passaic County Sheriff’s detectives to charge a 26-year-old city man and seize four bricks of heroin, authorities said Thursday.
Detectives spotted Leon Kinchen exit a taxi cab near Chamberlain Avenue and Preakness Avenue around 7 p.m. Wednesday, said Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik. When officers approached Kinchen, he apparently tossed the drugs under a vehicle.
Sheriff’s investigators recovered the four bricks, which contained 200 packets of heroin with a street value of more than $750, Berdnik said.
Kinchen was arrested on charges including possession of heroin, possession with the intent to distribute heroin and possession of heroin with the intent to distribute it within 500 feet of a public housing complex, the sheriff stated.
