A report found on NorthJersey.com stated that in Clifton a 17 year old Passaic resident is facing attempted murder charges after police said he shot at three other teens on Clifton Ave, Monday.
The teens were standing near Arthur Street around 3 p.m. when a car with three Passaic youths approached and an argument broke out among the two groups of teens. A police spokesman, Sgt. Robert Bracken, also stated the teens did not appear to know each other.
The Passaic youths drove off but returned as the Clifton teens were entering a car. The driver parked, exited his vehicle and opened fire with a handgun, Bracken said. No one was hit.
The driver and the two passengers were quickly apprehended after trying to escape on foot, Bracken also said.
The suspected shooter has been charged with three counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a handgun, aggravated assault and resisting arrest. The passengers, aged 16 and 17, were charged with possession of a handgun, obstruction and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.
