Substitute Teacher Sentenced for Sexual Assault of Passaic County High School Students

Passaic County NJ Sexual Assault ChargesA woman who used to teach at high schools in Passaic County NJ is headed to prison after reaching a deal with prosecutors and pleading guilty to child endangerment charges.

The suspect is a 22-year-old woman who was employed as a substitute teacher at schools in the county, including Manchester Regional High School and Haledon Public School.

According to law enforcement, the suspect sexted with multiple students and also had sex with them. The suspect later admitted to having sent sexual photographs of herself to a 16-year-old student at Manchester Regional High School. Additionally, the suspect performed oral sex with a 16-year-old student at the same high school and also had sexual relations with a 14-year-old student at Haledon Public School.

The suspect was charged with multiple sex crimes, including second degree sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She managed to avoid trial on the charges by reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors. The terms of the plea deal called for Passaic County prosecutors to recommend a sentence of five years behind bars.

The suspect recently appeared in Passaic County Superior Court in Paterson NJ so that a judge could officially approve the plea deal and hand down a sentence. The superior court judge signed off on the plea agreement, but he reduced the sentence to a term of incarceration of three years in New Jersey State Prison. That s because the judge said that certain mitigating factors existed, such as the suspect s religious, sheltered upbringing.
