Police recently arrested a man wanted in connection with a triple homicide in Maplewood, NJ. One of the homicide victims was a Paterson woman.
The homicides were committed at an apartment located on Van Ness Court in Maplewood NJ on January 29, 2017. According to law enforcement officials, the two suspects went to a Maplewood apartment complex and attempted to rob the three victims. During the violent theft crime, the suspects allegedly shot and killed the three people inside the apartment.
The three victims included a 30-year-old woman from Paterson NJ, a 44-year-old man from Newark, and a 45-year-old man from Maplewood. All three victims were friends. At this time, investigators have not yet determined what the motive for the killings may have been.
Authorities found the victims bodies after firefighters were sent to the Maplewood NJ apartment to conduct a welfare check.
Several law enforcement agencies worked together on the investigation into the triple homicide, including the Essex County Prosecutor s Office, the Maplewood Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Police eventually tracked down one of the murder suspects in Columbia, Maryland. He was arrested without incident by Maryland cops.
Law enforcement is still trying to find the other murder suspect, a 33-year-old man from Galloway, New Jersey.
The suspects are likely to face numerous criminal charges, including three counts of first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, felony murder, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The suspect who was apprehended is currently being held at a Maryland jail. He will eventually be extradited back to Essex County, New Jersey.
