Police in Passaic NJ recently arrested a 17-year-old boy who allegedly possessed and distributed child pornography on his computer.
According to law enforcement, the teenage suspect uploaded and emailed files containing images of child pornography. The Passaic County Sheriff s Office began an investigation into the suspect after receiving a cybertip from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children.
When police investigated further, they learned that someone was uploading and sending child porn files from an apartment in Passaic, New Jersey.
Passaic County sheriffs later obtained a search warrant to gain access to the Passaic NJ apartment. Police officers then seized the suspect s computer and allegedly found 12 files of child pornography.
The minor suspect was subsequently charged with juvenile delinquency for possession and distribution of child pornography.
Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik issued a statement after the arrest, saying that this crime was particularly upsetting because it involved one juvenile exploiting other younger children. Berdnik also noted that parents need to stay involved in their children s lives and closely monitor their kids computer habits.
After the suspect in this case was charged and processed, he was released into the custody of his parents. He will to appear in Passaic County Family Court at a later date to answer the sex crime charges against him.
