A Somerset NJ man suspected of involvement in the armed robbery of a Philadelphia-area cigarette distribution center has been arrested.
NJ state police detectives were led to the Hotel Somerset-Bridgewater in Franklin Township NJ, where they arrested 24-year-old Adrian Herrera.
According to state police, Mr. Herrera was found in possession of more than $20,000.00. As a result, Mr. Herrera has been charged with money laundering.
After being arrested, Mr. Herrera was sent to jail in Middlesex County, where he awaited extradition to Pennsylvania.
During the robbery, four (4) men posing as law enforcement officers stole $80,000.00 from a cigarette distribution center in Bristol, Pennsylvania. The men were dressed in all-black clothing and wore law enforcement badges around their necks. According to police, the men were armed with semiautomatic handguns.
Three (3) suspects were tracked by a K-9 unit and arrested after a car chase. The suspects have been identified as 28-year-old Newark NJ resident Jonathan Gonzalez, 23-year-old East Orange NJ resident Jose Silva, and 23-year-old Somerset NJ resident Joel Torres. Police allegedly found a shotgun and a handgun in the suspects’ vehicle. The three (3) men were charged with robbery and theft.
