Detectives from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office arrested two (2) suspected drug dealers in Newark, New Jersey.
According to officials, detectives seized a small cache of marijuana and cocaine when they arrested the first suspect, 34-year-old Rodney “Logic” Little. Mr. Little was arrested after Sheriff’s Office detectives conducted a search of Mr. Little’s apartment on 5th Street in Newark. Mr. Little had been the target of a drug investigation. Earlier, prior to executing a search warrant, investigators allegedly witnessed a “hand-to-hand drug transaction” outside Mr. Little’s apartment.
Inside Mr. Little’s residence, detectives allegedly found more than 800 grams of marijuana with a street value of roughly $8,000.00.
The next day, Sheriff’s Office detectives were conducting a motor vehicle stop in Branch Brooks Park when they recognized one of the passengers as Nami Moore. Mr. Moore had previously been arrested for unlawful possession of a handgun.
The detectives noticed Mr. Moore sweating and shaking nervously before he attempted to flee the vehicle. Mr. Moore was almost immediately tackled by a sheriff’s officer. Later, a search of Mr. Moore allegedly turned up 65 vials of “crack” cocaine and 29 envelopes of heroin.
Mr. Little and Mr. Moore have both been charged with multiple drug offenses.
In New Jersey, cocaine possession is addressed by N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10(a)(1). According to the statute, cocaine possession may be classified as a third degree crime. If Mr. Little is convicted of third degree cocaine possession, he could be sentenced to as many as five (5) years in New Jersey State Prison.
