Man In PIP Court For Traffic Ticket Charged With Possession

A 26 year old Toms River man Felix Suliveres was in court yesterday for a speeding ticket on the Palisades Interstate Parkway was arrested while in court after Police found his car was illegally parked and there was evidence of marijuana inside the vehicle as well. Felix Suliveres was booked into the Bergen County Jail on a $17,000 bail. He is being charged with possession and distribution of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of marijuana and several motor vehicle violations as well, according to Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Chief Michael Coppola. Mr. Suliveres admitted to police that he smoked some marijuana about a half hour before he was due to appear in court. Officers Gregory Kimbro and Timothy Conboy saw his car illegally parked and that s when they proceeded to inspect the vehicle. Which then led them to see in plain sight the marijuana and grinder that was just used by Mr. Suliveres.

Under N.J.S.A. 2C: 35-5 which is Possession of Marijuana. It involves having, manufacturing, dispensing, and possessing marijuana with the intent to sell or manufacture the drug. The charges are stratified and depend on how much marijuana a person had at the time of their arrest. In this instance there was enough marijuana to be charged with a crime of the 3rd degree. A person found guilty of a crime of the 3rd degree is looking at 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
