Three teenagers were recently apprehended by law enforcement in connection with a violent robbery and sexual assault of a woman at a Clifton NJ motel.
The incident occurred late at night. According to Clifton law enforcement, the three young suspects knocked on the door of a room at the Howard Johnson Inn that is located along Route 3 West in Clifton. When the 50-year-old victim answered the door, the suspects reportedly burst into the room and held her captive.
The suspects allegedly raped the woman and then stole her belongings, including cash, before exiting the room and fleeing the area.
Clifton NJ police detectives investigated the sexual offense. Investigators eventually identified the three suspects as the individuals who may have committed the sex crime. The suspects were soon located and placed under arrest.
Two of the suspects are from Paterson, while the third suspect is from Clifton. All three suspects in the sexual assault are minors.
Despite the fact that the suspects are juveniles, it is not likely that they will be charged with juvenile offenses. Instead, because of the violent nature of the alleged acts, the teenage suspects will probably be charged as adults.
Those criminal charges could include charges for sexual assault, robbery, burglary, criminal restraint, aggravated assault, and theft of movable property.
After being arrested, the suspects were moved to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center in Newark, New Jersey.
