Police in Paterson New Jersey are investigating a non-fatal shooting that resulted in two people sustaining serious injuries.
The shooting incident happened around 9:20 p.m. in the area of Governor Street and Carroll Street in Paterson, NJ. The Paterson Police Department got a call about gunshots being fired and immediately sent cops to the scene.
When Paterson NJ police officers arrived at the site of the shooting, they found a 15-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso. He was rushed to St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center in Paterson NJ, where police located the second shooting victim. The second victim is an 18-year-old man who was reportedly driven via private car to the hospital.
Paterson police detectives are actively investigating the violent crime and attempting to identify a suspect.
If and when authorities locate and apprehend the person responsible for the shooting, that individual would likely face criminal charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and weapons offenses such as unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
According to Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale, the law enforcement agency has a strategic plan to reduce the recent surge in violence throughout the city. Speziale said, in what surely must be a warning to potential violent offenders, that the police force will tirelessly focus on those responsible and deliver swift and decisive justice.
