Paterson New Jersey police recently arrested a Connecticut man accused of distributing drugs in the parking lot of a local White Castle restaurant.
The Paterson Police Department received word of illegal drug activity and sent officers to the parking lot of the White Castle located on Broadway in Paterson, NJ. The police officers staked out the parking lot and eventually noticed a 2014 Ford Fusion driven by the suspect.
At some point, police allegedly witnessed the suspect stash a bag filled with drugs in his vehicle trunk, hiding it behind the carpet. After that, the suspect reportedly removed a large wad of cash from the trunk and went inside the White Castle so that he could purchase food.
When the suspect exited the restaurant, Paterson NJ police officers approached him and subsequently searched the vehicle. During a search of the car, police allegedly found a large quantity of marijuana in the trunk and a small bag of crack cocaine on the suspect.
According to law enforcement, the suspect spoke with the Paterson police officers and admitted that the illegal drugs belonged to him.
The suspect, a 20-year-old male from Middlebury, Connecticut, has been charged with numerous drug crimes, including distribution of crack cocaine and distribution of marijuana. The suspect has also been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) near a school zone and possession of a CDS near public housing.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was remanded to the Passaic County Jail. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.
