Two men from Brooklyn were arrested Tuesday evening after they attempted to use a fake credit card.Two men from Brooklyn were arrested Tuesday evening after they attempted to use a fake credit card. This ultimately led up to Aaron Findly and Reynaldo Eloy being arrested on multiple charges, the main two being attempting to use a false credit card, and false drivers licenses. Aaron Findly and Reynaldo Eloy were at the Walgreens in Ramsey, when they attempted a purchase with one of their 14 fraudulent credit cards. After they were denied, they fled the Walgreens and wound up on Route 17 and after hearing an alert from Ramsey Police, Mahwah Police Officer John Rodriguez stopped their BMW and brought them back to Ramsey Police headquarters. They provided police with false Pennsylvania driver s licenses as well as using an automated rear license plate cover to conceal their license plates to thwart identification. Findly is being held on $100,000 and Eloy is being held on $75,000. Ramsey Detectives are attempting to locate if either of them were involved in other local crimes involving credit cards.
Under N.J.S.A. 2C:21-6h which is the fraudulent use of a credit card. A person who knowingly uses any counterfeit, fictitious, altered, forged, lost, stolen or fraudulently obtained credit card to obtain money, goods or services, or anything else of value; or who, with unlawful or fraudulent intent, furnishes, acquires, or uses any actual or fictitious credit card, whether alone or together with names of credit cardholders, or other information pertaining to a credit card account in any form, is guilty of a crime of the third degree. If found guilty of a crime of the 3rd degree a person is looking at 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
Under N.J.S.A. 2C:21-2.1c. which is giving false drivers licenses to the police. A person who knowingly exhibits, displays or utters a document or other writing which falsely purports to be a driver’s license or other document issued by a governmental agency and which could be used as a means of verifying a person’s identity or age or any other personal identifying information is guilty of a crime of the third degree. If found guilty of a crime of the 3rd degree a person is looking at 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison.
