Newark NJ police arrested several residents in two separate drug raids.
The raids were conducted by detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The first raid occurred when detectives from the prosecutor’s office’s Narcotics Task Force entered a residence in the 200 block of North 7th Street.
According to a statement issued by the prosecutor’s office, detectives confiscated 82 glassine envelopes of suspected heroin, 8 grams of crack cocaine, 60 Oxycodone pills, 28 Xanax pills, and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Police took six people into custody and charged three of them. 28-year-old Alexander Toledo was charged with drug distribution near a school zone, 33-year-old Keisha Ellis was charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute, and 23-year-old Romelo Ellis was charged with possession of prescription drugs.
On the same day, detectives conducted another raid in the 300 block of South 6th Street. According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, officers found a loaded 9mm handgun, 15 glassine packets of heroin, and 38 vials of cocaine.
