Teenager Arrested by Newark NJ Police After Allegedly Committing Two Robberies

Newark NJ police arrested a teenager accused of robbing two (2) men with a toy gun.

Newark police officers chased the 17-year-old suspect on foot after the alleged robberies, which occurred in the area of Calumet Street and Pacific Street. According to authorities, officers apprehended the suspect in an apartment building as he was allegedly trying to conceal both the toy handgun and proceeds from the two (2) robberies.

Police said that the teenager robbed a 45-year-old man of several items just a few minutes prior to the pursuit on Calumet Street.

While Newark officers were investigating that robbery, a second victim approached the officers and informed them that he had also been robbed nearby, in the area of Pennington Street and Pacific Street.

Both victims positively identified the 17-year-old suspect as the person who had robbed them.

The unnamed suspect was charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
