Police Search for Woman Accused of Theft, Stealing Wallet from Store in Wayne, New Jersey

Wayne New Jersey Theft SuspectWayne New Jersey police are searching for a suspect in the recent theft of a wallet from a local store.

The theft occurred around 10:20 a.m. at the Dollar Kraze store, which is located inside the Brentwood Plaza on Route 23 South in Wayne, NJ.

The victim accidentally left her wallet behind at the store and then left the building.

According to law enforcement, the female suspect was inside the store when she noticed the wallet and stole it. She reportedly told a store worker that the wallet belonged to her friend and that she planned to return it.

Wayne NJ authorities indicated that the victim never received her wallet. Instead, it is believed that the suspect simply took the wallet and kept it.

Now Wayne police are hoping to catch a break in the case by releasing photographs of the suspect, who has been described as a female with dirty blonde hair. At the time of the theft, the suspect was wearing a plain green sweatshirt, dark jeans, and black sunglasses.

Witnesses at the store told police that the suspect might live in the area because she is frequently seen at the Brentwood Plaza shops.

If investigators are able to identify and locate the suspect, she would be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3, theft of movable property valued at more than $500 is a third degree felony and carries a potential punishment of 3-5 years in NJ State Prison.
