Paterson NJ police recently arrested a local woman accused of shooting a man on a city street.
According to officials, the 22-year-old suspect fired gunshots at a person who was walking away from a residence located on East 23rd Street, between 10th Avenue and 11th Avenue, in Paterson, New Jersey. The suspect and the victim allegedly got into a verbal altercation inside the home, with the suspect later following the victim outside and using a handgun to shoot him.
The Paterson Police Department received a call about gunshots in the area and immediately dispatched officers to the scene. When officers showed up, they found the 22-year-old male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his leg. The victim was taken to nearby St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center, where doctors treated him for his injuries. The victim was later listed in stable condition.
Paterson NJ detectives spoke with the victim, who identified the female suspect as the shooter.
Police later placed the suspect under arrest and charged her with several crimes, including attempted murder, illegal possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and endangering an injured victim.
The suspect, who resides in Paterson, New Jersey, could be in store for significant criminal penalties if she is convicted on the most serious charge of attempted murder. A conviction for attempted murder could lead to life imprisonment in NJ State Prison.
After being arrested, the suspect was moved to the Paterson Police Department s cell block, where she awaited a bail hearing.
