A man was recently taken into custody after being shot by Paterson police officers during a violent incident.
The police shooting occurred around 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of Levine Street and Main Street in Paterson, New Jersey. It is believed that the suspect was holding a large knife and posed a threat to the officers when they shot him.
After the shooting, the suspect was treated by emergency medical responders and then taken to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.
Although the Paterson Police Department has not released many details about the shooting, a witness has come forward to reveal that she heard police officers fire three gunshots during the incident. The woman heard the gunshots and went to the window of her office building and saw police officers surrounding the area.
The Passaic County Prosecutor s Office is currently investigating the police shooting, which is standard procedure anytime a Paterson police officer discharges their weapon.
Meanwhile, it is possible that the suspect will face criminal charges for aggravated assault and weapons offenses, depending on the exact circumstances of the altercation.
