Paterson NJ Police Investigate Fatal Shooting of 24-Year-Old Man on City Street

Paterson NJ Murder Defense Law FirmPolice are investigating a fatal shooting on a street in Paterson NJ, but investigators have yet to identify a suspect in the criminal case.

The violent incident went down around 4:30 a.m. in the area of East 19th Street and 17th Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey.

The Paterson Police Department received multiple reports of gunshots being fired in the neighborhood and immediately dispatched patrol cops to the area. When Paterson NJ police officers arrived at the scene of the shooting, they found the victim lying on the pavement and suffering from undisclosed injuries. The victim was briefly treated at the scene by emergency medical crews before being rushed via ambulance to nearby St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center. Emergency room doctors at the Paterson hospital tried to save the victim s life, but they were unable to do so; the victim was pronounced dead later that day.

The victim was just 24 years old when he died as a result of gunshot-related injuries.

The Paterson Police Department issued a press release to indicate that the law enforcement agency is working with Passaic County Prosecutor s Office detectives on a joint investigation as they try to figure out a motive for the fatal shooting and search for the culprit.

If police can eventually identify and apprehend the suspect, that individual would probably face criminal charges for first degree murder and various weapons offenses. A conviction on homicide charges could lead to a potential sentence of life imprisonment.
