Paterson New Jersey police arrested a local man who allegedly shot a young boy.
According to law enforcement, the shooting occurred on February 29, 2016.
Detectives with the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor s Office conducted a lengthy investigation and eventually determined that the suspect was responsible for firing a gunshot that went through a window at a home located on Rosa Parks Boulevard. The bullet reportedly struck the victim, a seven-year-old boy, in the shoulder.
The victim, who was at home with his grandmother at the time, dialed 911 and alerted local police to the shooting. He was briefly treated at the scene of the shooting and then transported to St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment.
The suspect, a 29-year-old male who lives in Paterson, was later apprehended at a residence located on 12th Avenue in Paterson, NJ. He was placed under arrest without incident and charged with numerous crimes, including attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a defaced firearm.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to Paterson police headquarters. He was being held at the jail in advance of bail proceedings.
