A Paterson NJ man sustained non-fatal injuries after being shot while riding his bike on a city street.
The shooting went down around 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Beech Street and Essex Street in Paterson, New Jersey. According to law enforcement, the victim was on his bicycle and moving along Beech Street when he approached the intersection. Just as the victim reached the intersection, someone fired gunshots in his direction.
The Paterson ShotSpotter system detected gunshots and issued an alert to the Paterson Police Department. However, the victim was gone from the area by the time Paterson NJ cops arrived at the scene of the shooting.
The victim was reportedly struck in the hand by at least one bullet. Afterwards, he transported himself to St. Joseph s Medical Center. Hospital officials then contacted local law enforcement and informed them of the victim s arrival at the medical facility.
The victim, a 26-year-old man who lives in Paterson NJ, was treated for his gunshot wound and later released from the hospital.
At this time, Paterson police have not yet identified a suspect in the shooting. If and when authorities can identify and locate the shooting suspect, the culprit would likely face serious criminal charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
