Paterson NJ Man Charged with Armed Robbery, Arraigned in Federal Court

Paterson NJ Robbery SuspectA Paterson NJ man faces armed robbery charges in federal court after police reportedly connected him to a theft incident.

The suspect is a 34-year-old resident of Paterson, New Jersey. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect dressed like a Passaic County sheriff s officer so that he would not be stopped when scoping out the targeted residence: an apartment located on 20th Avenue in Paterson, NJ.

It has been alleged that the suspect was joined in the home invasion by a 30-year-old Newark man.

Both suspects were ultimately tied to the break-in and placed under arrest by law enforcement officers.

The Paterson suspect faces a slew of criminal charges, including conspiracy to commit robbery and attempted robbery. He has also been charged with multiple weapons offenses, including brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and a certain persons offense for being a convicted felon unlawfully in possession of a firearm.

If the suspect does not reach a deal with the US Attorney s Office or otherwise resolve his case outside the courtroom, he could eventually stand trial in U.S. District Court in Newark, NJ. Depending on the outcome of the case, the suspect could potentially be sentenced to as many as 20 years in federal prison on each charge.
