A Paterson City resident has been arrested on attempted murder charges according to authorities.
Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale stated, Davon R Clay was arrested today at his North 4th Street home in connection with a shooting last week.
Police say that a 22-year-old city resident arrived in a private vehicle to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center around 8:10 p.m. last Friday with wounds to the face and torso. Thru an investigation they then identified Clay to be the alleged shooter.
Two 9mm semi-automatic handguns were also recovered during the investigation, police said, which will be tested to determine whether they were used in last week’s shooting or any other incidents.
Clay was taken to Paterson police headquarters, where he will remain until his initial court hearing and setting of bail.
Paterson Police Detective Christopher Ravallese and Passiac County Prosecutor s Office Detective Michael Boone of the Ceasefire Unit led the investigation. Speziale said in a statement that the members of that unit are “truly a talented group of individuals capable of seeing situations for what they are and endowed with the skills to bring such immediate closure to these violent crimes.
Anyone with further information about the ongoing investigation is asked to call the Ceasefire unit at (973) 321-1342.
