Passaic County Sheriffs Detectives Arrest 5 In Paterson Drug Raid

Sheriff s Officers arrested three men and two women on weapons and drug charges in Paterson after they raided the home on Monday. The home is on 276 Carroll Street which is near Eastside High School and the raid happened after two weeks of watching the home. According to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik. Sheriff s narcotics detectives seized more than a pound of marijuana, half an ounce of cocaine, numerous prescription pills. The total amount of the seized drugs totaled $4,200, and as the Detectives attempted to enter the home one of the suspects 44 year old 300 pound Alex Ramos pushed his weight up against the door to thwart them from entering the premises. Detectives also took a .38 revolver, and $7,200 in cash. The individuals arrested were Alex Ramos 44, Rosa Hayre 20, Luis Mojica 30, Ranaisha Mouzone 20, and Nelson Robledo 27. The Passaic County Sheriffs Department believes the 5 taken into custody are suspected drug dealers.

Under N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5 which is Manufacturing Marijuana With The Intent to Distribute. It involves, the act of manufacturing and then distributing marijuana the degree of the charges depend on how much marijuana was being sold. The charges range from a crime of the 1st degree to a crime of the 4th degree. In this case it was a pound of marijuana so it is a crime of the 3rd degree. A person found guilty of a crime of the 3rd degree is looking at 3 to 5 years in New Jersey State Prison. A fine of $25,000 may be imposed instead of jail.

Under N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5 which is Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. It is the act of having any type of machine gun or handgun in someones possession. It is a crime of the 2nd degree in the State of New Jersey. A person found guilty of a crime of the 2nd degree is looking at 5 to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
