In Paterson 21-year-old man was shot at a playground in a public housing complex Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The city resident was at the Riverside Terrace Housing Complex when he was shot in the hand around 2:30 p.m., according to Detective Lt. Patrick Murray. He was listed in stable condition at Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Murray said.
The city is seeking to tear down the troubled Riverside housing facility, which has a history of drug crime and violence. Last year, police disrupted an open air drug market at the complex.
Murray said anyone with information on the shooting should contact Detective Rolando Polio or Passaic County Prosecutor’s Detective Michael Boone of the city’s Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
