Haledon NJ police arrested 10 people at a local hookah lounge and charged some of them with underage drinking.
The Haledon Police Department opened an investigation after receiving numerous complaints about possible underage drinking at Caf Diaz, which is located on Haledon Avenue in Haledon, New Jersey. The investigation was dubbed Operation Smoke and involved more than 20 undercover detectives conducting surveillance on the Haledon NJ caf .
Operation Smoke lasted approximately seven hours and resulted in police arresting 10 people on various charges.
Six of the people arrested by police were charged with the juvenile crime of underage drinking because they were allegedly consuming alcohol. The juveniles reportedly reside in Prospect Park, Passaic, Haledon, Clifton, Haledon, and Bergenfield.
Haledon NJ cops also arrested a 25-year-old Englewood NJ man who allegedly had a criminal warrant out for his arrest.
Finally, police arrested the three owners of the Haledon lounge: a 29-year-old Paramus man, a 21-year-old Passaic man, and a 22-year-old Elmwood Park man. The business owners were charged with multiple crimes and ordinance violations for allegedly serving alcohol to minors, maintaining a nuisance, selling tobacco products to minors, and failing to maintain smoke detectors.
