Carlstadt NJ police arrested a Haledon NJ man who was allegedly involved in a bloody fight at a local hotel.
According to officials, the Carlstadt Police Department received a call about a domestic dispute at the EconoLodge hotel located on Washington Avenue in Carlstadt, New Jersey. The 911 call was placed by the hotel desk manager.
The violent altercation reportedly left the suspect s girlfriend with serious injuries, including bruises and bloody cuts. When Carlstadt police officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim suffering from pain as a result of the attack.
The victim told Carlstadt cops that the suspect bit her on the face and then punched her on the side of the head.
The 28-year-old suspect, who is from Haledon NJ, has been charged with multiple crimes, including simple assault, criminal mischief, and harassment.
If the suspect is convicted on the most serious charges of simple assault, he faces severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(a), simple assault is classified as a disorderly persons offense. A conviction for simple assault could lead to a sentence of up to six months in the local county jail.
Additionally, depending on the circumstances and whether the assault is classified as a domestic violence incident, the suspect could be subject to a restraining order.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was transported to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail on a $1,000 bond.
