Four Suspects Charged with Robbery, Assault for Violent Attack at Motel in Wayne, New Jersey

Wayne NJ Motel Assault ChargesPolice in Wayne New Jersey made three more arrests in connection with the brutal assault of a person at a local motel.

The violent attack occurred at the Wayne Motor Inn, which is located on Route 23 in Wayne, NJ. According to authorities, the suspects are among a group of people who used a baseball bat to assault a patron at the motel. The suspects reportedly hit the victim in the head and the face and then stole cash and jewelry.

A person who was with the victim at the time was able to dial 911 and alert Wayne NJ law enforcement to the criminal incident. The victim was then rushed to St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center in Paterson NJ, where doctors treated him for a serious head wound.

A Wayne NJ police officer later spotted one of the suspects, a 24-year-old man from Wanaque NJ, and placed him under arrest.

Now three more suspects two men and one woman have also been arrested in connection with the assault and theft.

One of the male suspects is an 18-year-old from Pompton Lakes NJ, while the other male suspect is an 18-year-old from Haskell, New Jersey. The female suspect is a 19-year-old who resides in Oak Ridge, NJ.

All of the suspects have been charged with multiple crimes, including aggravated assault, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1, anyone who uses a deadly weapon, such as a handgun, knife, or baseball bat, during the commission of a theft can be charged with a first degree felony. A conviction for first degree armed robbery could lead to a sentence of 10-20 years in NJ State Prison. Additionally, since violent crimes like armed robbery are covered under the No Early Release Act (NERA), anyone convicted of this offense would be required to serve at least 85 percent of their prison sentence before becoming eligible for release on parole.

The two male suspects who were recently apprehended are currently being held at the Passaic County Jail in lieu of $150K bail amounts, while the female suspect is being held at the Paterson NJ jail on a $100K bail amount.
