DRIVERS BEWARE: “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign begins tomorrow

The Division of Highway Traffic Safety has announced that its annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign begins tomorrow, Friday, December 3, 3021 and will run through January 1, 2022. A total of 106 law enforcement agencies throughout the State have been issued grants totaling $632,520 to increase patrols and DWI checkpoints.

“The goal of our ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ holiday campaign is to protect the motoring public and save lives by raising awareness of the risks and penalties associated with impaired driving and cracking down on violators,” Director of Division of Highway Traffic Safety Eric Heitmann said earlier this week. “Today we’re giving everyone fair warning that the campaign launches on Friday and anyone driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol can expect to be pulled over and arrested.”

Last year’s campaign resulted in 590 DWI/DUI (alcohol/drug) arrests and the issuance of more than 3,900 tickets for speeding and seatbelt violations.
