A Clifton, NJ woman who worked at a local senior center has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars.
The suspect is a 31-year-old woman from Clifton in Passaic County, New Jersey. She was employed for approximately one year by the Clifton Senior Citizens Center, a city-run facility that provides services to elderly residents.
According to authorities, the suspect used her role at the senior center to befriend an older resident. When the man passed away, the suspect allegedly got hold of his debit card and made numerous purchases.
The suspect reportedly stole around $2,500 from the deceased victim s bank account. (The bank account was replenished over time with Social Security checks.)
When Clifton police got information about the alleged theft, they worked with the Social Security Administration Inspector General s Office to investigate the suspect.
The suspect faces multiple criminal charges: theft by deception and identity theft.
