Clifton NJ police are searching for suspects who allegedly committed violent assaults in two different incidents during the past weekend.
The attacks resulted in significant physical injuries to the victims.
The first violent incident went down around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday. Multiple Hispanic men reportedly approached the victim while he was sleeping in a park in the area of Parker Avenue. The suspects then began to kick and punch him.
The suspects reportedly ran off after attacking the victim. Police later indicated that they believe the incident was a robbery attempt.
Afterwards, emergency medical responders briefly treated the victim at the scene and then transported him to St. Mary s Hospital in Passaic, NJ. The victim, a 38-year-old male from Passaic NJ, was later listed in stable condition.
The second attack happened shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. The victim, a 54-year-old Clifton man, was reportedly attacked by a group of suspects. The men allegedly assaulted the victim and stole his cell phone and an unspecified amount of cash.
Sometime later, a couple of Clifton NJ patrol cops noticed one of the suspects in the second attack. The police officers chased after the suspect on foot and placed him under arrest.
The suspect, a 19-year-old male from Passaic NJ, faces criminal charges for robbery. Meanwhile, the other suspects in both assaults remain at large.
