Clifton NJ Man Allegedly Fired Gunshot at Police Officers While Barricaded Inside Home

Clifton New Jersey Criminal Defense AttorneysA SWAT team with the Passaic County Sheriff s Department recently arrested a man accused of using a handgun to shoot out of his window.

The shooting incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at a residence located on Dalewood Road in Clifton, New Jersey. The Clifton Police Department received multiple calls about a disturbance at the home and immediately dispatched officers to the area. When Clifton NJ cops arrived at the scene, they found the suspect barricaded in a bedroom in the home. The suspect was allegedly shouting at the officers and threatening to shoot anyone who attempted to get inside the house.

Approximately one hour after police officers got to the scene, the suspect allegedly used the weapon to a fire a gunshot out of his bedroom window. Thankfully, the bullet did not strike anyone outside.

Members of the Passaic County Sheriff s Department SWAT Team and the Clifton Police Hostage Negotiation Team soon arrived to provide assistance to Clifton patrol officers. Law enforcement also worked to secure the area by evacuating residents of nearby houses.

The suspect was finally apprehended around 1:40 a.m. when a SWAT team forcibly entered the residence and placed him under arrest.

The suspect was initially taken to St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center in Paterson so that doctors could evaluate him. When the suspect is released from the hospital, he will face criminal charges for unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and terroristic threats.
