Shooting Victim 5.19.13-thumb-325x216-20184-thumb-325x216-20269 (1)This case was the subject of blog article that I wrote this past Sunday, May 19th, entitled, “Hudson County Investigators Seek Witnesses in Case of 12-Year Old Jersey City Boy Shot and Killed,” which discussed the ongoing efforts of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office to identify those responsible for the Friday night shooting death of 12-year old Gwyan Levine, Jr., of Jersey City (pictured above).

By way of updates, authorities now confirm that Janice Everett, a 25-year old woman from Rahway, has been arrested and charged with Felony-Murder, Armed Robbery, and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, in connection with Levine, Jr.’s death. She is being held at the Hudson County jail in Kearny in lieu of $250,000 bail.

According to information released, the motive for the shooting was robbery. And while investigators continue to search for the two men who they believe were also involved, the Levine family was happy to hear that at least one of the assailants was in custody. An aunt was quoted by the Jersey Journal as saying, “It feels good to know that they found someone. We need the closure. And even if they haven’t got them all, it starts to help us all heal.”

Also according to information released, Everett and the two men are suspected to have been involved in at least one other robbery in Jersey City on Friday night.

The two men have been described as black males in their early 20s to 30s – one approximately 5’9″ with a medium build and complexion, the second approximately 5’11” to 6′ with a medium build, medium to dark complexion, and low, cropped hair (possibly shaved or buzzed).

Anyone with information is still being asked to call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at (201) 915-1345.
