Attorney General’s Office investigating death of woman in Paterson PD cell

The NJ Attorney General’s Office is investigating the death of a woman who is alleged to have died while in a holding cell at the Paterson Police Department.

The 57-year old woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was apparently taken into custody on Thursday, February 17th and charged with Possession of CDS (crack cocaine), a crime of the Third Degree. She reportedly died while in the holding cell on Friday, February 18th. Her death was not announced until the following Monday evening.

This marks the 5th investigation this year into individuals that died while in police custody or at the hands of an officer. For more information, the NJ.com article can be found here.
