After a police chase in Newark, New Jersey, three men are facing charges for resisting arrest as well as eluding, while they are under investigation for their connection to a number of armed robberies that occurred recently.
At approximately 10:39 p.m. on the night of Monday, December 30th, officers from the New Jersey State Police Department noticed a speeding vehicle being driven erratically near Avon Avenue and South 17th Street in Newark. They subsequently pursued the vehicle, a dark-colored sedan, which was similar to a car described in connection with a series of recent armed robberies.
According to New Jersey State Police Sergeant Adam Grossman, those in the vehicle did not respond to orders to pull over, as they attempted to elude police. The vehicle finally stopped on Clinton Avenue, at which time the three individuals exited the vehicle and began running away, attempting to flee the scene.
The state troopers eventually apprehended the men, who were identified as 25-year-old Newark resident Emanuel McCallum, 21-year-old Newark resident Al-Jamir Dickerson, and 36-year-old East Orange resident Ricky Hubbard. All three are now facing charges for resisting arrest. In addition, McCallum was charged with eluding.
Each of the suspects is being held at Essex County Jail, while police continue to investigate their association with the armed robberies.
