Paterson NJ Man Sentenced for Raping 7-Year-Old Girl

A 24-year-old Paterson NJ man has been sentenced to eight (8) years in prison for raping a 7-year-old girl.

Celvin Carranza admitted to raping and committing an act of sexual penetration on the victim. In court, Mr. Carranza pleaded guilty to second degree aggravated sexual assault.

According to authorities, police learned about the sexual assault when the girl went to her mother and reported the incident. Officials described Mr. Carranza as a “family friend” of the victim.

In addition to the eight-year prison sentence, Mr. Carranza will be required to serve at least 85 percent of his prison term before becoming eligible for parole.

Upon completion of his prison term, Mr. Carranza faces deportation to El Salvador. If Mr. Carranza is not deported, he will remain on parole for life. Additionally, he will be required toregister as a Megan’s Law convict.
