Last week, detectives from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office raided Taareef Robinson’s home in Chambersburg NJ and seized a slew of controlled dangerous substances.
Authorities believed that Mr. Robinson had been distributing drugs from his home on the 400 block of Elmer Street in Chambersburg, New Jersey. As a result, detectives had been investigating Mr. Robinson for the past month.
Among the substances confiscated during the raid were cocaine, marijuana, and prescription painkillers. Detectives and county sheriff’s officers found marijuana in a plastic bag on the kitchen table, next to a digital scale. Detectives also found 43 Percocet pills, 47 Xanax pills, and a shotgun. The shotgun was reportedly an Ithaca pump-action type. Additionally, Mr. Robinson was found to be carrying 10 grams of power cocaine, 10 grams of crack cocaine,67 decks of heroin, and one (1) oxycodone pill. Prosecutors estimated the street value of the seized drugs to be $3,325.00.
After being arrested, Mr. Robinson was charged with drug and weapons possession offenses.
In New Jersey, heroin possession is governed by N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10. As set forth by the statute, possession of even a small amount of heroin can be classified as a third degree felony. If Mr. Robinson is convicted of third degree heroin possession, he could be sentenced to as many as five (5) years in state prison.
