Clifton Woman Pleads Guilty to Defrauding Trucking Company Out of $1 Million

Fraud Attorney in Clifton NJA Clifton NJ woman is headed to prison after she admitted to stealing nearly $1 million from a local trucking company.

The suspect is a 55-year-old woman who lives in Clifton and who worked for Clifford B. Finkle Jr. Inc., a trucking company based out of Clifton. While employed as the business payroll clerk from June 2012 to April 2015, the suspect stole more than $900K.

According to prosecutors, the suspect had easy access to the funds because of her position with the company. She reportedly falsified payroll records and then created checks for people who did not work at the company.

The suspect s embezzlement was eventually discovered by the owners of the trucking company, prompting an investigation by NJ law enforcement.

The total amount stolen by the suspect, and her co-conspirators, was $920,380.

The suspect ultimately avoided trial in federal court in Newark NJ by reaching a plea deal with federal prosecutors. In exchange for the suspect pleading guilty to wire fraud charges, she will serve prison time and be fined at least $250K. (It s possible that the suspect could be sentenced to up to 20 years behind bars when she appears in court for a formal sentencing hearing.)
