A Wayne NJ man who previously won a Powerball lottery jackpot has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a minor.
The suspect, 49-year-old Pedro Quezada, lives in Wayne in Passaic County, New Jersey. Quezada won a large Powerball jackpot of $338 million in 2013.
Several years before winning the lottery, Quezada allegedly committed sex crimes against a girl between the ages of 11 and 14. That girl is now 20 years old and has come forward to authorities to allege that Quezada sexually abused her.
According to prosecutors, Quezada forced the underage girl to have sex with him.
The suspect now faces several criminal charges, including charges for aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and child endangerment.
If Quezada is convicted on the very serious sex offense charges, he could potentially be sentenced to 40 years in New Jersey State Prison. Additionally, the suspect would be required to register as a convicted sex offender under Megan s Law.
While awaiting resolution of the case, the suspect is free on bail. He will be required to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and must remain at his residence in Wayne.
