Police in Wayne NJ are investigating a fire that resulted in the death of at least one person.
Wayne NJ police officers and firefighters were dispatched to a residence located on Riverlawn Drive in Wayne after receiving a call about a fire at the house. The fire reportedly started a short time before 8:00 a.m.
Firefighting crews were initially unable to enter the home upon arrival because the flames could not be controlled. The fire quickly spread throughout the Wayne residence and even reached the driveway.
Tragically, a male resident died because he got stuck on the second floor of the Wayne NJ house.
The victim s wife was reportedly present in the house at the time of the fire. Law enforcement officials have not yet indicated whether the woman was injured as a result of the fire.
Authorities have stated that the family s dog died during the blaze.
Wayne NJ fire officials are actively investigating the fire. Authorities have already determined that the fire may have started in the basement of the home.
Depending on the outcome of the official investigation into the fire, it s possible that arson charges could be filed. At this time, there is no indication that arson charges are forthcoming in the case.
