Members of the Passaic County Sheriff s Office recently arrested a man who allegedly possessed a large amount of cocaine at a Paterson NJ home.
A 26-year-old man was driving an Acura MDX on Temple Street in Paterson NJ when police officers pulled him over. The officers approached the vehicle and reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the car.
After questioning by police, the suspect reportedly admitted that he had a small bag of marijuana. According to authorities, the suspect handed over the marijuana to law enforcement.
The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with simple possession of marijuana.
However, that was not the end of the police investigation. Passaic County Sheriff s officers returned to the area and again smelled marijuana. This time, the odor came from a house.
When law enforcement conducted a search of the residence, they allegedly found 246 small baggies filled with cocaine, three larger bags filled with five ounces of cocaine, and various drug paraphernalia that included scales to weigh drugs and zip-lock bags for packaging drugs.
It is believed that the seized drugs have a total street value of around $11,000.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the second suspect was remanded to the Passaic County Jail in Paterson, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail in advance of a bail hearing.
