Police Capture Suspect in Paterson NJ Gas Station Murder

Paterson New Jersey Murder AttorneysA Paterson NJ man suspected of fatally shooting a local gas station attendant was located and arrested in Pennsylvania.

The suspect is a 28-year-old man from Paterson, New Jersey. According to authorities, the suspect used a handgun to shoot the victim at First Avenue Gas on January 23, 2017. The shooting reportedly occurred during a robbery attempt.

The victim, a 57-year-old Fair Lawn NJ man, sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. Tragically, doctors at the Paterson hospital were unable to save the victim; he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Meanwhile, detectives with the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor s Office investigated the shooting and soon identified the suspect as the possible shooter. Police eventually tracked him down in Pennsylvania, where the suspect reportedly fled after the fatal shooting.

The suspect has been charged with numerous crimes, including first degree murder, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The suspect is currently in police custody at the Pottsville Police Department in Pennsylvania. At some point, he will be extradited back to Passaic County, NJ so that he can answer the criminal charges against him.

Two other suspects in the gas station homicide, a 21-year-old Paterson man and a 21-year-old Garfield NJ man, are also in police custody. Both men also face criminal charges for first degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting.
