Paterson NJ Murder Suspect Captured in North Carolina

Paterson New Jersey Murder SuspectNorth Carolina law enforcement recently nabbed a Paterson NJ man wanted on murder charges in Passaic County.

The suspect is a 19-year-old man from Paterson, New Jersey. He allegedly used a handgun to fatally shoot someone near the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Summer Street in Paterson, NJ.

Afterwards, the victim was rushed to St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. Tragically, doctors were unable to save his life. The victim was just 21 years old when he died as a result of the shooting.

The suspect allegedly committed the homicide around 2:30 a.m. in September 2016. Since then, authorities have been unable to find him. He was finally tracked down at Courtyards Apartments in Wilmington, NC. It is unclear how police found out about the suspect s whereabouts.

The suspect is currently being held at the New Hanover County Jail in North Carolina. He will remain in police custody while awaiting extradition to New Jersey so that he can face first degree murder charges.

If the suspect is ultimately convicted of first degree murder, he would face life imprisonment. That s because the NJ Criminal Code imposes enhanced penalties for murder, including a minimum term of incarceration of 30 years.
