A Wanaque NJ man was arrested on DWI charges after he allegedly led Pennsylvania State troopers on a high-speed pursuit.
The suspect is a 37-year-old man who lives in the Haskell area of Wanaque, New Jersey. According to authorities, he stole a car and then evaded law enforcement.
A PA police officer was driving on Route 322 just before midnight when he reportedly spotted the suspect committing a traffic offense while operating a Chevy TrailBlazer. The patrol cop attempted to stop the suspect s vehicle, but the suspect allegedly hit the gas and continued driving.
During the pursuit, police ran a check on the vehicle and learned that it has been reported stolen out of Philadelphia.
Several police officers followed the suspect through multiple counties, including Lebanon County, Dauphin County, and Lancaster County. The chase eventually came to an end in Lancaster County when police used stop sticks on the roadway. The suspect was then placed under arrest and taken to police headquarters.
The Wanaque NJ resident now faces charges for several crimes in Pennsylvania, including eluding law enforcement, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of stolen property. He was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and cited for a number of other traffic offenses.
