Law enforcement in Paterson New Jersey is investigating a police shooting outside the Paterson police headquarters.
According to authorities, the shooting incident occurred on Saturday night in the area of 111 Broadway in Paterson, NJ. A police officer drew his police-issued firearm and used it to fire at least one gunshot at a civilian.
The civilian who was shot by the Paterson NJ cop reportedly sustained gunshot-related injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, where he received medical treatment.
Immediately after the shooting, the Passaic County Prosecutor s Office Shooting Response Team sent officers to the scene to investigate. Detectives with the Passaic County Prosecutor s Office are still actively looking into the incident, as is standard procedure when a police officer uses their firearm in the line of duty. A spokesperson for the prosecutor s office sent an email to the media indicating that the scene of the shooting has been secured and the investigation is active and ongoing.
