Paterson NJ Murder Suspect Apprehended by Federal Authorities in South Carolina

Paterson NJ Homicide AttorneysA Paterson NJ man wanted on murder charges has been apprehended in South Carolina.

The homicide occurred around 11:45 p.m. on September 30, 2016. According to law enforcement, the suspect shot and killed a local man on 12th Avenue in the Fourth Ward of Paterson, New Jersey.

The victim, a 29-year-old male, was rushed to St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center with severe gunshot wounds. Tragically, doctors at the medical facility were unable to save him; he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the suspect reportedly fled the scene and then left New Jersey. The Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor s Office worked with U.S. Marshals to investigate the killing and track down the suspect. Authorities eventually located the suspect in Florence County, South Carolina, with US Marshals ultimately placing him under arrest.

After the arrest was made and the suspect was extradited back to Passaic County NJ, the Paterson police director issued a statement in which he praised the collaboration between law enforcement agencies at the federal, state, and local levels that led to the suspect s arrest.

The suspect, a 26-year-old resident of Paterson NJ, faces first degree murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting. If he is convicted of first degree murder, he could end up spending the rest of his life behind bars.
