Police in Paterson NJ recently arrested a local man who had a warrant out for his arrest in Atlanta, Georgia. The Paterson NJ man was wanted on a murder charge.
According to law enforcement, the suspect shot and killed someone in Georgia earlier this year.
The suspect was apprehended by Paterson NJ police in the area surrounding his home, which is located on Mercer Street in Paterson, New Jersey. Paterson detectives saw the suspect walking around the neighborhood and arrested him.
After being handcuffed and placed in the back of a police patrol car, the suspect managed to slip out of the handcuffs and jump from the backseat of the police vehicle while it was still moving. However, the Paterson police officers quickly caught up to the suspect and subdued him. The suspect allegedly fought with police while they tried to put him in handcuffs a second time.
Paterson NJ police also arrested the suspect s girlfriend. She has been accused of trying to cover up the homicide by throwing away a gym bag that contained the alleged murder weapon, a .380-caliber handgun.
The suspect, a 33-year-old male who resides in Paterson, faces first degree murder charges in Georgia. Additionally, the suspect has been charged with several crimes in Passaic County, NJ, including illegal possession of a handgun, a certain persons offense for being a convicted felon unlawfully in possession of a handgun, illegal possession of hollow point ammunition, and aggravated assault on a police officer.
Meanwhile, the suspect s girlfriend, a 31-year-old resident of Paterson NJ, has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and hindering apprehension.
