Police Investigate Shooting on Paterson NJ Street That Left Two Men Injured

Paterson NJ Shooting AttorneysPaterson New Jersey police are investigating a shooting that resulted in two men sustaining serious injuries.

According to the Paterson Police Department, the shooting occurred around 3:45 a.m. Paterson police dispatched patrol units to the fourth ward after receiving an alert about gunfire in the vicinity of East 23rd Street and Hamilton Avenue. The alert came from the Paterson Police Department s gunfire detection system.

When police officers got to the scene of the shooting, they did not encounter any victims. However, a short time later, police got a call from medical personnel at St. Joseph s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ. Doctors said that two men with gunshot wounds had been transported to the hospital in a private car.

One of the victims is a 23-year-old male from Wayne, NJ. He sustained a gunshot wound to his arm and was later listed in stable condition. The other victim is a 30-year-old Passaic NJ man. His head was grazed by a bullet during the shooting, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

At this time, law enforcement has not identified a suspect in the case. If police can eventually identify and apprehend a suspect, that person would likely face criminal charges for aggravated assault. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b), a person who uses a deadly weapon to cause serious bodily injury to another can be charged with a third degree felony.
