Wayne New Jersey police arrested a Parsippany woman accused of trying to avoid a DUI charge by providing a false report.
The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. The suspect, a 25-year-old woman who lives in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany NJ, claimed that she was attacked while leaving Mother s Ale House, a bar located at 95 Mountain View Boulevard in Wayne, NJ.
The suspect dialed 911 and allegedly gave police a false report of being assaulted in the parking lot of the bar. She described her attacker as a man in a blue pick-up truck.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they found no evidence of the assault. Moreover, surveillance cameras did not show an attack in the parking lot.
Wayne NJ police were later told that the suspect had placed a false emergency call in order to divert police from her friend, who was reportedly drunk and attempting to leave the Grasshopper bar and grill, which is located at 26 Erie Avenue in Wayne, New Jersey. The suspect was reportedly hoping that her male friend could avoid being stopped and arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).
The Wayne Police Department conducted what is being called an extensive investigation. Investigators soon determined that the suspect may have been lying about being attacked when they saw a social media post that reportedly referred to law enforcement as silly piggies.
The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with filing false reports to police and creating a false public alarm.
