Daquonne Mason, 21, was charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses in the Feb. 25 shooting outside a food store at Vreeland and 19th avenues, authorities said.
Officers responded to the shooting around 2:45 p.m. and found a 20-year-old city man suffering from a gunshot wound to his back, according to Detective Lt. Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, which investigates non-fatal shootings.
Murray said city police along with other law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, were working to track down Mason.
Anyone with information was asked to call Ceasefire Unit Detective Francisco Brito at 973-321-1342.
Brito, along with Detectives Jason English, Richard Martinez and Christopher Ravallese, were credited with conducting the investigation that led to charges against Mason.
